Released in 1969 Scott 3 is for many their favourite Scott album. Again working with Wally Stott the pair pushed the boundaries of what effects which could be achieved in the orchestration of a song. Opening track Itu2019s Raining Today u2013 a Walker composition is atmospherically brilliant and is followed by more of his own compositions u2013 Scott is using his inspirations to dress the music lyrically. Brel does make an appearance on Scott 3 u2013 ironically the final 3 songs u2013 almost a requiem. There is probably no finer cover of If You Go Away than that of Scott Walker. Completely in synch with the music and sentiment itu2019s a cry of pleading desperation.
