Mercury Music Group are set to release a new album by one of the UK\u2019s most successful singer songwriters, Mark Knopfler.\r

\u2018Kill To Get Crimson\u2019 is out on September 17th 2007. It was made with a hand-picked A team of musicians including long-time collaborators Guy Fletcher and Chuck Ainlay. It\u2019s his fifth solo, non-soundtrack release, following 2004\u2019s \u2018Shangri-La,\u2019 and arrives on the heels of Knopfler\u2019s delightful collaboration with Emmylou Harris, \u2018All The Roadrunning.\u2019 That international success became his first-ever entry to the US top 20 in his own name, as well as Emmylou\u2019s, and led to select dates together in the early summer of 2006. \r

Recorded in his own, purpose-built studio, British Grove in West London, the new album contains a high proportion of traditional instrumentation. Featured players include accordionist Ian Lowthian, with whom Knopfler collaborated on the soundtrack to the 2002 movie \u2018A Shot At Glory,\u2019 and fiddle player John McCusker, perhaps best known for his work with Kate Rusby.\r

A multiple Grammy award winner, as the lead singer/songwriter for Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler combined his wry lyrics with his guitar prowess to create such major hits as \u2018Money For Nothing\u2019, \u2018Sultans Of Swing\u2019, \u2018Romeo and Juliet\u2019 and \u2018Walk of Life\u2019. He has produced records for Bob Dylan and Randy Newman as well as scoring several films including \u2018Local Hero\u2019 and \u2018Princess Bride\u2019.\r
