A master of lyrical expression and harmonic elegance, Kenny Barron has long been regarded as one of jazz's most distinguished pianists. Born in Philadelphia in 1943, Barron's journey through the jazz world reads like a tour of its greatest innovators: early work with James Moody, Roy Haynes, and a formative tenure in Dizzy Gillespie's quintet set the stage for a career defined by sophistication, depth, and unmistakable melodic clarity.

Through the 1960s and '70s, Barron became a sought-after collaborator, performing with Freddie Hubbard, Jimmy Owens, Yusef Lateef, Milt Jackson, Jimmy Heath, and Stan Getz. His role in the celebrated ensemble Sphere, alongside Buster Williams, Ben Riley, and Charlie Rouse, further cemented his reputation as a musician equally rooted in bebop tradition and forward-looking modernism.

Recorded in October 1984, Landscape captures Barron at a moment of profound artistic maturity. Joined by Cecil McBee on bass and Al Foster on drums, this intimate trio session reveals the full breadth of Barron's expressive range. The album includes the traditional "Hush-A-Bye", "Spring Is Here" and two Kenny Barron originals "Calypso" and "Sunset".
