He tragically died aged 22 in a plane crash (Feb 3rd 1959) leaving his wife who he had been married to for less than one year. The day became known as The Day the Music Died Famously referred to in Don McLeans song American Pie. Forever associated with Fender Stratocaster and his horn-rimmed glasses 2122nd October is the 60th anniversary of his last recordings which happened in a Decca studio and included the track True Love Ways which he dedicated to his wife Buddy used to play the violin and shortly before his death buddy was experimenting with string orchestrations in his music Now finally with his widow as Executive Producer an album of Buddy Hollys music with full orchestrations will be released on Decca the original label to which he signed to in 1956 The album has full endorsement from the Buddy Holly Foundation and his widow Maria Elena With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
