Esoteric Recordings\u2019 Reactive label is pleased to announce the release of a newly re-mastered 4 CD clamshell boxed set which gathers together the first four legendary albums by Tangerine Dream, originally released on the Jive Electro label between 1985 and 1987, known by fans as \u201cThe Blue Years\u201d albums.

\u201cLe Parc\u201d was the first studio album by Tangerine Dream following their departure from Virgin Records.

Edgar Froese, Chris Franke & Johannes Schmoelling recorded this inspiring work in Vienna, Berlin and London, utilising the services of guest vocalists Clare Torry on \u2018Yellowstone Park\u2019 and Katja Brauneis on \u2018Zen Garden\u2019. The album\u2019s title track, subtitled \u2018L.A. Streethawk\u2019, was a reworking of Tangerine Dream\u2019s theme to the US TV series Streethawk.

\u201cGreen Desert\u201d took over two decades from its initial recording sessions to completion. The project began life in August 1973 at a session in skyline studio in berlin. Locked away in Edgar Froese\u2019s personal archive for many years, in 1984 the recordings were re-visited with additional recordings by Edgar being added at Eastgate studio in Vienna, finally appearing in 1986.

\u201cUnderwater Sunlight\u201d was released in 1986. Rightly heralded as an ambient classic, the album was the first to feature Paul Haslinger and was arguably the finest of the band\u2019s so called \u201cblue years\u201d, influencing a new generation of ambient musicians. Featuring both parts of the superb \u2018Song of the Whale\u2019 and the classic title track, the album introduced Tangerine Dream to a new audience.

\u201cTyger\u201d was recorded in Berlin and Vienna and was the final studio release by the band for the Jive Electro label, taking its inspiration from the poems of William Blake. Edgar Froese, Chris Franke & Paul Haslinger utilised the services of guest vocalist Joceylyn Bernadette Smith on a number of tracks, resulting in one of the most inspiring Tangerine Dream albums of the so called \u201cblue years\u201d.

This clamshell box of \u201cThe Blue Years Studio Albums 1985 \u2013 1987\u201d features \u201cLe Parc\u201d, \u201cGreen Desert\u201d, \u201cUnderwater Sunlight\u201d and \u201cTyger\u201d packaged in replica card sleeves and also includes a poster.
