Lyrically, as well as the reworking of two traditional songs, exploring some dark current issues such as the environment, war, depression, nature and injustice. These poignant themes are countered by the contrasting and positive musical brightness of the melodies, arrangements and diverse instrumentation Mishaped Pearls has come to be known for.rrThe band have incorporated many more musical influences on Shivelight which include elements of Fairport Convention, Radiohead, The Police, Vashti Bunyan, Bruce Springsteen, Tinariwen, Maria Callas, The Dubliners, Kate Bush, and many more.
