Beginning with Thomas Mencken in the 16th century, a broad arch is stretched over Antonio Rosetti, Friedrich von Flotow and Richard Wagner into the 21st century and the Fantasia for String Quartet by the ensemble member Jxf6rg Ulrich Krah. The discovery of hitherto relatively unknown musical treasures by composers associated with Schwerin was just as much motivation for this CD as the challenge to present music from four completely different periods to a broader audience, taking the respective performance practice into account.
