The band integrates styles like Amazonian cumbia, huayno, sonidero cumbia, boogaloo and chicha with electric guitars, Farfisa organ, Theremin, flute and of course fluid Latin percussion. Spaghetti western soundtracks, psychedelia and surf music also echo in their compositions.
rrThe name of the song 'Chamula (mxe9tete)' comes from San Juan Chamula, a little town in Chiapas (a Mexican state in the South of the country). Most of the people there are Chamulas and Tzetzales (Mexican first nation) and their lives are full of traditional sounds and a unique way of seeing the Universe. The song documents a cruel battle between the Chamulas and Tzetzales and the state Goverment in 1869.
