This compilation offers a glimpse into the inner workings of the United Restaurant, Hotel and Tavern Association, a key player in the city's culinary scene. The sources reveal the association's opposition to the New York City Smoke Free Air Act, as well as its questionable funding from the Tobacco Institute. You'll also find records of significant contributions to Democratic and Republican committees during this period, shedding light on the complex web of politics and advertising in the city. With these documents, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the intersection of politics, business, and culture in New York City during this pivotal time.
