In this powerful and thought-provoking book, Harvey Kwiyani challenges Western Christians to confront the darker legacies of mission history and imagine a new model of Christian mission free from colonial influences. Through a bold and necessary critique, Kwiyani exposes the enduring effects of slavery, colonization, and the "colonized mindset" that has shaped the way Christians think about themselves and their mission. Kwiyani's work is a hopeful blueprint for a decolonized missiology that resonates with the diverse, global Body of Christ. By tracing the history of Christian mission alongside the history of empire, he reveals the inextricable link between colonialism and Christian mission, and calls for a new approach that is rooted in mutual respect and non-imperial values. This book is a must-read for anyone seeking to reimagine Christian mission in a postcolonial world, and to proclaim a gospel that resists privilege, inequality, and exclusion. With incisive insight and unflinching honesty, Kwiyani challenges readers to think critically about the legacy of colonialism and to work towards a more just and equitable form of Christian witness.
