Description
In this groundbreaking edition of Robert Greene's play, renowned scholars have shed new light on the complexities of early modern drama. Edited by Mathew R. Martin, Selimus is a masterful blend of classical rhetoric, historical allegory, and innovative elements that will captivate scholars and students alike. A postcolonial perspective offers a fresh analysis of the play's representation of the Orient, challenging Western logos' rules over oriental discourse. This edition provides a significant service to both research and teaching, making the play more accessible and nuanced than ever before. Through its adaptability and unique fusion of styles, Selimus exemplifies the evolving nature of drama and literature. A must-read for scholars of early modern drama, literature, and cultural studies.
