Yonni were formed in February 1996 in Sheffield UK. In the years passed Yonni played lots of gigs and numerous festivals in the UK, as well as releasing their music with various small labels. Founder member Nort Tron was previously a member of the Surface Mutants and Hula as well as playing drums with Cabaret Voltaire. He runs Epic Head Studio in Sheffield. The latest band line up includes Jonathan Willmer (Keys, Synths) who also plays with Tinned Meats and Out Ink and was a previous member of Mysteron. Nic Bate (bass) is also a member of Jarg Armani and The Aviators as well as releasing music as Electric Plate and his own solo tracks. Jake Holland (guitars) was a previous member of the infamous Idle Hands and the Devils work. Stefano Esposito (drums, bass guitar) has been a member of Yonni since 2000 and at present is recording his second solo album at Epic Head. Rachel Edmondson (guest vocals) is also a member of The Astrels and has worked with Crooked Man and Jarvis Cocker as well as releasing her debut EP Define in 2023. The band's guest sax player Lola is a member of party band Elements and gigs as a duo performing uptempo dance tunes with her singing sister Sophia under the name SoLo. The Speed Of Dark is the fourth album from Yonni.
