For decades after the war, their sacrifices and contributions went unrecognized by Norwegian society. With The War Sailor Requiem, their story is finally brought to light with power, beauty, and profound gravity.

The libretto weaves the sailors' own words together with the traditional requiem liturgy. Christophersen's distinctively clear musical voice reflects on the sea, loss, courage, and the power of memory. The music moves between the intimate and the dramatic - a requiem for those who never returned, and for those who lived on in silence.
