that's why he is the go-to for directors like Steven Soderbergh (Sex, Lies, and Videotape; Solaris; Contagion; Traffic) and, of course, Nicolas Winding Refn, for whom Martinez scored Drive, Only God Forgives, and this film, 2016's The Neon Demon.
Martinez himself described the first half of this fashion model freakfest of
a film as "a melodrama like Valley of the Dolls, and the second half is like The
Texas Chain Saw Massacre," and for that mindbending blend he composed
a hypnotic, electronic masterpiece in the grand tradition of such European
masters as Goblin, Vangelis, and Tangerine Dream. That's not all our special, 2-LP edition offers, however: here, for the first time on vinyl, is the LONG version of Julian Winding's "Demon Dance," along with tracks by Sweet
Tempest and Sia ("Waving Goodbye").
Add to that a gatefold jacket, two full-color inner sleeves, and a pink with blue and purple splatter pressing, and you'll find that playing the soundtrack to The Neon Demon is, in its own way, every bit the kaleidoscopic experience that
