Meet the African wild dog, a highly social and intelligent canid species found in sub-Saharan Africa. These remarkable animals are known for their cooperative hunting and complex pack dynamics, often outperforming lions in hunts with a success rate of 60-90%. With a highly developed sense of teamwork and communication, African wild dogs are skilled hunters that primarily target medium-sized antelopes, such as greater kudus, Thomson's gazelles, and impalas. Their diurnal activity allows them to hunt at dawn and dusk, and they are also known to display diurnal behavior. Unfortunately, African wild dogs face numerous threats, including predators and human-wildlife conflict, making conservation efforts crucial to their survival.
