Description
Experience the gripping story of the Winter War, a three-month battle between the Finnish Army and the massive Soviet Red Army. Despite being vastly outnumbered and under-resourced, the Finnish soldiers' skill in cross-country skiing and familiarity with the harsh winters of their homeland proved to be a significant advantage. The Soviet troops, on the other hand, were ill-equipped and poorly led, struggling to cope with the Finnish terrain and winter weather. The Finnish resistance, though ultimately unsuccessful, had a lasting impact on global and American considerations of military strategy and the importance of terrain and weather in warfare. This documentary series provides an in-depth look at the preparations, capabilities, and operational dispositions of the Finnish military during the winter war. With its unique blend of historical insight and military strategy, this series is a must-watch for anyone interested in the history of World War II.
