Description
"Patricia Chu's groundbreaking work, Where I Have Never Been, delves into the complex themes of migration, melancholia, and memory in Asian American narratives. This thought-provoking book explores the tropes of return, tracing both literal return visits by Asian emigrants and symbolic "returns" by diasporic writers. Chu's innovative approach breaks new ground in Asian American literature, shedding light on the debates surrounding the categorization of Asian American literature and the problems of identity. Through a nuanced examination of these themes, Chu invites readers to reflect on the experiences of Asian Americans and the power of storytelling in shaping our understanding of identity and belonging. This insightful book is a must-read for scholars, writers, and anyone interested in the complexities of migration and identity."
