While most of the 51 tunes performed here on this great 2CD set are Ellington standards, there are also several rarelyperformed / recorded numbers such as Court Session and Solid Old Man. The playing, typically, is solid throughout and features the talents of JOHNNY HODGES, REX STEWART, HARRY CARNEY, LAWRENCE BROWN, JOYA SHERRILL, BILLY STRAYHORN,OSCAR PETTIFORD and SONNY GREER, amongst others.
