Instrumental Rock'n'Roll, usually with a concise twanging guitar (such as introduced by Duane Eddy or Link Wray) but also with saxophone as lead melody instrument, emancipated itself at the end of the 50s - creating its own genre with charts successes, and bringing world-famous protagonists like The Shadows or The Ventures to the world's attention. The 'Pulp Fiction effect' put Dick Dale & The Del-Tones back in the worldwide spotlight in the early 90s with their iconic breathless sixteenth staccato version of the original motif 'Misirlou' in Tarrantino's classic film.
