I formed Sonic Fiction in 1993 with Adam Armstrong and Andrew Gander. James Muller, our third guitarist, joined the group in 1997. Although Sonic Fiction is quite clearly a 'Jazz' quartet, I have never suppressed influences associated with my other musical activities. It should also be said that the music on this album was guided by the musical personalities of the members in the band.* - Daryl PrattAbout the musicians*Daryl Prat (California, USA) emigrated to Australia in 1985 and currently resides in Sydney where he is Chair of the Percussion Department at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He has collaborated in performance and or on recordings with some of the world's greatest composers including John Cage, Roger Reynolds, Toru Takemitsu, Bernard Rands and Jacob Druckman. Andrew Gander (Sydney, Australia) has a performance profile that would best be described as varied. He has performed with Ernie Watts, Kenny Kirkland, Nat Adderley, Vince Jones and Joe Pass. On record, he's played with Joe Chinadamo (featuring the Brecker brothers and Ray Brown), Barney McAll, Kenny Wheeler, Dale Barlow and others. Plus, he's toured in the pop world with Paul Young and Vanessa Mae. Adam Armstrong (Sydney, Australia) is possibly Australia's most active bassist. Among Aussie-based artists he's worked with are Paul Grabowsky, Dale Barlow, James Morrison, Vince Jones, Mike Nock and Bernie McCann, while international stars include Billy Cobham, Kenny Wheeler, Frank Gambale, Chuck Findley and Kenny Kirkland. James Muller (Adelaide, Australia) is the newest and youngest member of Sonic Fiction. He's had a significant impact on the Australian music scene since moving to Sydney in 1996. In addition to leading his own trio, he performs and has recordings with Vince Jones, Dale Barlow and the Chad Wackerman Group.
