Hull was a better gig than Leeds I remember it like it was yesterday although in retrospect Live At Hull doesnt really trip off the tongue! Roger Daltry Recorded over the same 2 days in February 1970 as the legendary Live At Leeds the Hull date was whispered about by some Who aficionados for years as the superior of the two gigs. While both dates were recorded for posterity problems with the Hull recording stymied its release until extensive restoration work by Pete Townshend in 2010. It eventually surfaced in 2011 as part of the extras on the super deluxe limited edition Live At Leeds box now deleted. Now in 2012 Live At Hull is at last being made available in its own right as part of a 2CD download set. Featuring incendiary performances of Who classics such as Substitute I Cant Explain and My Generation explosive covers of the standards Fortune Teller Summertime Blues and Shakin All Over plus an entire disc comprising a suite of Tommy recordings it shows the band at the absolute peak of their worldbeating powers. Remastered remixed and repackaged in a stylish 6panel digipak Live At Hull can at last stand alongside its Live At Leeds sister as an integral part of The Whos enduring legacy. PRODUCT FEATURES 2CD cutdown version of material previously released on the Live at Leeds superdeluxe box set 2010. Remastered and remixed audio material from Hull City Hall 15th February 1970 that was recorded for the album the following night. Packaged in stylish 6panel digipak. In those days live albums were always Live At the Colosseum In Rome or Live At The Palladium Hollywood Bowl etc. I said live isnt really like that. Touring is much seedier. So why didnt we think of Live At Grimsby or Live At MudonSea. I looked at the schedule and said Youre in Hull on Wednesday and Leeds on Thursday sic so its going to be Live At Hull or Live At Leeds!
