Manchester indie favourites Westside Cowboy have officially announced their long-awaited debut album It Goes On, arriving on August 21st via Island Records. Alongside the announcement, the quartet have also shared explosive new single ‘Kick Stones (The Boys)’, a track that captures the raw energy, emotional chaos and communal spirit that has quickly made the band one of the UK’s most talked-about new acts.

The album announcement follows a whirlwind rise for the Manchester four-piece, whose mix of urgent indie rock, Americana influences and post-punk intensity has already earned praise from publications including The Guardian, NME, Rolling Stone UK and DAZED.

New single ‘Kick Stones (The Boys)’ arrives with the kind of emotional punch that has become synonymous with Westside Cowboy. Loud, restless and deeply heartfelt, the track balances soaring indie hooks with the rough edges that make the band feel refreshingly human.

Rather than polishing away the chaos, the band leaned into it. Inspired by live recordings from The Velvet Underground, the group intentionally pursued a sound that felt immediate and imperfect.

Bassist and vocalist Aoife Anson O’Connell explained that the band initially worried the song might sound “too stadium rock”, before reframing it through their own scrappy, youthful perspective. The result is a song that feels both nostalgic and completely fresh - loose, emotional and bursting with momentum.

The accompanying video was filmed in collaboration with FC United of Manchester, reflecting the community-driven ethos that runs through everything the band does. Guitarist Reuben Haycocks praised the club’s “making friends not millionaires” philosophy, noting its similarities to the spirit Westside Cowboy want to create around their music.

Produced by Loren Humphrey, known for work with Geese and Wunderhorse - It Goes On was recorded at Greenmount Studios in Leeds and looks set to deliver one of 2026’s defining indie debuts.

Across eleven tracks, the album explores the confusion, hope, anxiety and intensity of youth. It is music built around feeling rather than perfection, embracing flaws and spontaneity instead of overproduction.

The band described the album as something they wanted to make for their younger selves:

“We wanted the music to be instant, concise, and honest to us as people today… We want to make songs that are lean and imperfect.”
