National Album Day Rock

Celebrate the Rock Album: National Album Day 2025

This year, National Album Day lands on Saturday 18 October 2025, and the theme is crystal clear: Rock. It’s more than just a day to spin a few tracks - it’s a celebration of the album as an artform, an invitation to slow down, press play, and allow yourself to be drawn into the stories, textures and journeys that only a full record can deliver.

If you love rock - the classic, the alternative, the heavy, the inventive - this year’s National Album Day delivers. We at Chalkys want you to join the movement, explore new and favourite albums alike, and ensure your copy is in hand. Below is what’s on offer, and why pre-ordering matters.

What’s Included This Year

National Album Day 2025 brings 60 special edition and reissue rock titles, spanning from heritage staples to modern innovators.

 Some highlights include:

  • Queen – A Night at the Opera (50th Anniversary Edition), given a new reissue on clear vinyl with gold labels, timed to coincide with National Album Day.
  • Patti Smith – Horses celebrating 50th anniversary
  • Status Quo – On The Level 50th anniversary reissue
  • Amy MacDonald – A Curious Thing special pink and white vinyl variant
  • The Jesus & Mary Chain – Psychocandy a reissue on a really cool white and red splatter vinyl
  • Liam Gallagher – As You Were limited edition “Zoetrope” vinyl
  • Kasabian – Empire (Solid Red Vinyl) double platinum album for the first time on 12" vinyl and Solid Red
  • Stereophonics – Language. Sex. Violence. Other?  20th Anniversary on Pink vinyl
  • The Rolling Stones – Their Satanic Majesties Request Reissue of their acclaimed 1967 album on Zoetrope vinyl
  • Iggy Pop – Idiot David Bowie produced Iggy Pop debut solo album on transparent orange vinyl
  • New Model Army – Thunder and Consolation This reissue double album is the bands most revered release
  • And many more across legends (Kiss, Elvis, Hendrix, Badfinger, Ghost, Avenged Sevenfold) and newer rock voices.

These are not mere reissues - many are limited editions, coloured vinyl, or variants you might never see again after the day.

Also worth noting: National Album Day is backed by BPI and ERA, with support from BBC Radio 2 and artist-champions across the rock spectrum.

Why Pre-Order?

  1. Guarantee your copy
These are limited pressings. Waiting until the day may mean you miss out entirely.
  2. Collectible appeal
Many titles are pressed on coloured, transparent, or special variants that won’t be repressed. Owning them early enhances their value (financially and sentimentally).
  3. Support independents
NAD leans heavily on indie outlets, like Chalkys. Pre-orders with them help underpin their stock, staff and survival.
  4. Be part of the conversation
When the day arrives, owning the exclusive version means you can join in the community listening, the social media buzz, the listening parties - not as an observer but as a contributor.
  5. Enjoy it first
The joy of spinning a fresh LP, from minute one, is a ritual many rock fans treasure.

Tips for Chalkys Readers

  • Set reminders, especially for big titles like Queen - A Night at the Opera - these will move fast.
  • Pair with the Mercury Prize week - NAD sits in the same week (Mercury is 16 October 2025) which adds extra spotlight to albums.
  • Share your setup, your favourite track, your vinyl shelf - NAD thrives on shared enthusiasm.
