All three musicians are strong writers as well as original and subtle players. All pieces on the album are composed by the band members.\u003c\/p\u003e\\r\u003cbr\u003e\\r\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis is a piano trio with a gifted pianist who says he is inspired primarily by singers. The group 'sings' in its own unique way - with an emphasis on melody, texture, shading, dynamics. Restraint is a watchword. Demonstrative, soloistic flights are avoided. This is group music that builds tension through restraint, until eruptive energies can no longer be resisted.\u003c\/p\u003e\\r\u003cbr\u003e\\r\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn his pieces Colin Vallon sometimes directly draws on music of the Caucasus. The tune 'Iskar' references Le Mystere Des Voix Bulgares; 'Rruga' itself draws upon a Turkish rhythm for its momentum. 'Meral' is influenced by Turkish folk music. These are some of the colours that inform this jazz trio.
