The band was active during the first wave of punk rock and played a significant role in the punk movement.\u003cbr\u003eLead vocalist and songwriter Poly Styrene was known for her unique vocal style and often cited as an influential figure in the punk scene.\u003cbr\u003eX-Ray Spex released their debut album, 'Germfree Adolescents,' in 1978, featuring the title track, 'Germfree Adolescents.'
