In their formative years, Darkthrone initially started making their mark with a strong concoction of thrash \u0026amp; then death\/doom metal experimentation before the debut album \\u2018Soulside Journey\\u2019 was unleashed in 1991. Never ones to follow convention or stand still even then, the band soon embraced a much darker, more primitive form of expression with the now iconic second album \\u2018A Blaze in the Northern Sky\\u2019, \u0026amp; the rest became history. \u003c\/p\u003e\\r\u003cbr\u003e\\r\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003e \\u2018Old Star\\u2019 marked the return of Fenriz and Nocturno Culto with their first studio album since 2016\\u2019s hugely popular \\u2018Arctic Thunder\\u2019 opus. With a mastery and endless dedication to the art of the riff, the Norwegian legends cut through 6 new epic tracks, taking in the best of the old school of heavy \u0026amp; extreme metal plus a large dose of doom-laden riffing, \u0026amp; channelling it through the grime of the underground.
